A 30-something year-old man allegedly robbed La Rosa Tortilla Factory of several thousand dollars in cash and checks on Saturday.

Madera police are looking for the suspect in a weekend robbery at a local branch of a food preparation company.

According to Madera Police Det. Sgt. Mark Trukki, the suspect, whose identity remained unknown as of Tuesday, approached a female employee at the La Rosa Tortilla Factory at 575 Noble St. at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The suspect, Trukki said, appeared to have a gun when he confronted the victim.

“The victim described the suspect as a black male adult, about 30 years old, described him as being tall, and said he was wearing a brown beanie, a grey sweatshirt, and unknown-type pants.”

The suspect reportedly made off with several thousand dollars in cash and checks, and stole the victim’s cell phone, which was discarded around a corner near the factory.

The police are still searching for possible leads.

Surveillance footage from the robbery can be found on the Madera Police Department’s profile on Facebook.

Those with information are encouraged to contact the police at 675-4200, or Crime Stoppers at 498-7867.
