Trespasser causes restaurant closure

Madera Police Department officers responded to a call about a trespasser at Perko’s Cafe and Grill (1825 W. Cleveland Ave.)

The trespasser, identified as Marcus Smith, walked into the kitchen Friday night and pulled the fire alarm. This caused the sprinklers to come on inside the restaurant and caused Perko’s to close early.

“It was a one-time thing and it won’t happen again,” said owner Kelly Molina. “It’s the first time it happened in the 20 years we have had the restaurant. We were back open by noon on Saturday.”
