Leap Year baby to celebrate 9th birthday

Madera County Library Desktop Support Technician Ignacio Negrete is all smiles knowing that his actual birthday, which he celebrates every four years, is on the calendar this week.

When Ignacio Negrete was in kindergarten, he realized that his birthday wasn’t on the calendar while everyone else was celebrating their birthdays .

He realized, then, that his birthday occurred every four years.

“That’s when you realize everyone had birthdays,” Negrete said. “Although everyone celebrated every year, I realized I didn’t have a calendar date. I did not see my birthday and realized it came around every few years, so it was special.”
