Suspect says meth and pants aren’t his

A suspect is awaiting arraignment after a drug-related arrest that he reportedly claims is the result of wearing the wrong pants.

Suspect Jose Morachis was contacted by police at the Chevron station in the 1800 block of West Cleveland Ave. at 1 a.m. Tuesday, according to Madera Police Cpl. Mark Trukki. While there, Morachis was reportedly with an individual with a history involving drugs, and police searched the pair with consent.

The search allegedly yielded a bag of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Morachis’ pocket.

“These are my friend’s pants,” Morachis said, according to Trukki...
