9-year-old boy shot and killed

Madera police are investigating the shooting death of a 9-year-old boy that happened Sunday evening, Feb. 18.

Officers received a call at about 7:20 p.m. regarding a shooting that took place in the area of Tozer Street and Olive Avenue.

“There were two victims, one of which was a 9-year-old boy who succumbed to his injuries at Madera Community Hospital,” said Sgt. Mark Trukki in a news release.

As of press time Monday, no further details were available, but police had scheduled a press conference at 3:30 to give more information.
