Mountain West Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year and former Madera South standout Murf Gray is getting ready to see his name on a list of Major League Baseball draftees next week.
After accomplishing most everything he wanted to, former Madera South Stallions’ baseball standout and Fresno State Bulldog, Murf Gray is getting ready for his next step — professional baseball.
Gray enters the weekend as the 140th rated prospect in the first-year Major League Baseball Draft, which begins Sunday. Gray hopes to be drafted in the first five rounds, but will be happy to have an opportunity to play professionally.
“It’s really one of those things,” Gray said. “If you want to play Major League Baseball, if you name gets called, you’re going to play. How bad do I want to be a professional? If the name gets called, it’s time to go and get after it. I might as well as go now when I’m playing good baseball. I’d be more than happy to come back to play at Fresno State because of the bonds I built with those coaches and players. We get raised like family.”
