Washington celebrates Oaxaca with parade

Washington Elementary is gearing up for its Back to School Night on Wednesday, which will include a Calenda celebration and parade that will begin at 4:45 p.m.

The parade will feature music, dancing, and large figures called monos de calenda and marmotas, which are part of a traditional celebration in Oaxaca, Mexico.

The goal of the event is to strengthen connections between staff, students, parents, and community members.
