Nick Esqueda is surrounded by fellow firefighters in Madera, as they were honored by Madera Sunrise Rotary Club last week.
Madera Sunrise Rotary Club honored local firefighters at its meeting last week, and gave its Humanitarian Award to a special firefighter, Fire Captain Nick Esqueda of Station 56, selected by fellow local firefighters.
The Club contacted the Fire Chief’s office to ask them to select a first responder in the fire department who exemplified the Rotarian motto of, “Service Above Self,” and for individuals from the local fire department to come and be their guests for the meeting at which the Humanitarian Award would be presented.
At the meeting, Sunrise Rotary president Gordon Kennedy introduced Larry Pendarvis, Assistant Fire Chief of Cal Fire for Madera City and County, who then said a few words about the dedication and hard work of the individuals in the departments at the various stations.
