Softball set for City/County All-Star game

Madera first baseman Destinee Avila is one of three Madera Coyotes who will play in Wednesday’s City/County All-Star Softball game at Margie Wright Diamond at Fresno State. She will be joined by teammates Malea Ricks and Brilynn Santiago on the City team.
The 44th annual City/County All-Star Softball game is set for Wednesday at Margie Wright Diamond at Fresno State.
Seven Madera-area softball players are set to play their final high school game, including two league Most Valuable Players. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
The City will feature five of those All-Stars, with three from the County/Metro Athletic Conference Champion, Madera Coyotes.
CMAC MVP Malea Ricks leads the City, along with infielder Brilynn Santiago and first baseman Destinee Ricks. Santiago was a first team All-CMAC selection, and Avila was an Honorable Mention.
Madera South first baseman Xochil Miranda, a second team All-North Yosemite League champion will also play for the City.
Matilda Torres infielder Ariana Garcia, a second team All-CMAC2 selection, will also play for the City.
The Liberty battery of catcher Carly Jimenez and pitcher Macie Webster will play one more high school game Wednesday, representing the County.
Jimenez was the Northwest Sequoia Conference Most Valuable Player. Webster earned the NWSC North Division Co-Pitcher of the Year honor.
Tickets are $12 for adults, and gates open at 5 p.m.
