For The Madera Tribune

DeeAnna “DeeDee” Patchell.

DeeAnna “DeeDee” Patchell passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 30, 2023, in Vancouver, Wash. She was 37.

DeeDee was born and raised in Madera, graduating from Madera High School and San Joaquin Valley College. She worked as a surgical technologist for 12 years, most recently at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver. She found fulfillment in her profession, as it tapped into her most profound skills as well as a genuine commitment to caring for people.

DeeDee will always be remembered for her feisty personality, an outgoing child who grew into a spirited young woman. Her incredibly infectious smile was a favorite among friends and coworkers, as was her love of laughter. It brought her joy to spread happiness and make others smile. She will be greatly missed.

A devoted mother to Dimitri, DeeDee reveled in watching her son grow and experience all life had to offer. Her loss will leave a void in him that will be filled by those who loved her.

DeeDee was preceded in death by her father, Alan Patchell, her brother, JW Patchell, her aunt, Samantha O’Neil, and her grandfather, Leighton Martin.

She leaves behind her son Dimitri Patchell-Wiggins; her mother, Cindy Markle Vail; brother Will Patchell; sister Amiee Patchell-Steffy; grandparents Jack and Fran Markle and Betty Martin; nephew Jameson Patchell, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Please join in celebrating DeeDee’s life at a potluck at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, at 14621 Road 28 1/2, Madera.

DeeDee would have loved gestures of remembrance through donations to a college fund for Dimitri.
