Madera Police honor officers of the year

The Madera Police Department recently announced its employees of the year for 2021.


The Non-Sworn Officer of the Year is Gabriel Mayorga. “Gabriel has a strong work ethic and never hesitates to assist his fellow coworkers. He has a great attitude with the public and his peers,” said a Madera Police Department statement. Mayorga started as an Animal Control Officer in 2020.


The Dispatcher of the Year is Travis Varney. “Travis is an excellent dispatcher. He has a great attitude and is always willing to help. He is team player and has covered many shifts this past year and has never complained or hesitated to do his part or help his fellow co-workers,” said the statement. Varney started with the Madera Police Department in 2016 as a Public Safety Dispatch.


The Officer of the Year is Reynard Camp. “Officer Camp has continuously been one of the most proactive officers on his assigned teams. He is excellent with the public and displays our values daily. Officer Camp is well respected by his peers and has a great attitude. He continuously strives to better himself and improve in his job performance,” the statement read. Camp began his career with MPD in 2019 and is assigned to the patrol division.
