The Madera County Master Gardener Program maintains a little treasure that is located behind the campus of Madera Community College, 30277 Avenue 12. It is a 2-3-acre demonstration garden area called Three Sisters Garden.
Master Gardeners Cecelia Sheeter and Tresa Varlas are co-chairing an event, to be held on Saturday, April 11, called Garden Day. This event runs from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., is free to the public, and will include activities, demonstrations, crafts, and lots of information on gardening and specific plants.
“The main focus on our mission statement is to educate the public. That’s why we’re excited about this first time ever event called Garden Day,” Sheeter said. “The public can just come and have multiple avenues to talk about. There’s information on gardening for the home gardener, or for people who want to plant an apple tree in the backyard. There will be somebody there who’s going to give a talk on home orchards.
