Motorists travel through the flooded intersection of Cleveland and Schnoor avenues on Tuesday.
For about an hour earlier this week, Madera residents saw the dark clouds rolling in. Then rain and hail fell for about an hour, dropping almost 1.5 inches of rain in one day.
Tuesday’s storm dropped 1.42 inches of rain, which annihilated the previous April 21 record of 0.40 inches.
“It was a pretty packed bunch of rain that came through in a span of a few hours,” Creekside Farming President Jay Mahil said. “It was hectic to get that much so quick. We needed the rain.”
