Central Section honors Madera coach

Madera Coyote softball coach Judy Shaubach holds her NFHS award for the Central Section’s softball coach of the year for the 2022 season. With Shaubach are, from left, longtime coaches Alan Revilla and Melissa Armiento-van Loon and Madera High School Athletics Director John Fernandez.

About 130 guests came to The Gardens in Tulare on Saturday to honor Central Section coaches and administrators who earned National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), CCA or CIF State awards in the last year.

The NFHS awards are from the 2021-22 school year as they were awarded for the preceding season during the last school year.

The dinner is an opportunity for people who usually shun the spotlight to have it shined on them for a few moments, in recognition from our office for all the hours and service they put in. It brings people together to be celebrated in a more fitting fashion than a mass email and certificate in the mail. It’s a chance to see our coaches and administrators in person. The Honors Dinner is a little more personal, engaging family members and colleagues, and gives us all a chance to connect. Most of our honorees were able to attend, though some had prior commitments.
