Back the Blue with a BBQ, says the City of Chowchilla

The Chowchilla community is invited to come to Veterans Memorial Park at noon Saturday, to participate in the “Chowchilla Backs the Blue BBQ” lunchtime event.

“Show your support as we celebrate the dedication and work of our local law enforcement on behalf of the citizens of our community,” said Marty Piepenbrok, the city’s director of recreation and community engagement.

“Police officers and non-sworn staff from various agencies will visit during the afternoon. There will be displays of vehicles and equipment, like the SWAT Unit. Learn about the various operations of our police agencies that serve and protect our community.

“Even if you don’t plan to dine at the Chowchilla Lions Club BBQ — but are you sure you want to miss out on that? Be sure to stop by for the ‘meet and greet.’

Make a point to write your personal words of support on the ‘Thank you, Chowchilla Police Department,’ display boards that will be posted inside the Chowchilla Police Department as a reminder of your support for all they do each and every day.” Veterans Memorial Park is on Robertson Boulevard at 6th Street. The barbecue costs $6. All proceeds will be donated to the Chowchilla K9 program.

Chowchilla Backs the Blue BBQ is presented by the Chowchilla Lions Club and the Chowchilla District Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the City of Chowchilla.
