Woman faces attempted murder charges

By DJ Becker The Madera Tribune A Madera woman is facing attempted murder charges for firing a rifle at a man in an alley behind the Buggy Wash car wash on Gateway Drive at Fourth Street Tuesday night.

Madera police located and arrested 22-year-old Raven Deleon and accomplice Jessie Valencia, 20, after they drove away from the scene in a white Honda.

Madera Police Sgt. Mark Trukki said the incident remains under investigation but the two male victims said they had agreed to meet Deleon in the alley about 8:20 pm after the car wash had closed, reportedly to settle a $50 debt.

“We are not sure exactly what the dispute was about what the victims claim they had paid Deleon when she walked away and then turned quickly and fired one shot at them from about 10 feet away, nearly striking one of the men, who hid behind a car. It appears the two knew each other and there may have been some relationship, either friendship or dating between them. We are still looking for the rifle, which fires a .223 round,” Trukki said.

Deleon is being held on a $1 million bond and faces charges of attempted murder, conspiracy and strong-arm robbery. Valencia is also facing charges of attempted murder and conspiracy.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Madera Police Department at 675-4244.
