The Madera Evening Lions host the 4th annual Running With the Lions Strive for Diabetes 5K run last year at Town and Country Park with more than 100 participants. This year’s event will be April 11.
Race coordinators Maggie Stickler and Benny Madrigal are in the final stretch of preparations for the fifth annual Running with the Lions Strides for Diabetes 5K run, sponsored by the Madera Evening Lions.
“Right now, we have 45 people registered,” Stickler said. “The Madera Unified Teachers Association has donated 25 runners. We have two Lions members sponsoring 10 Leos, each, to run. We have been reaching out to community members who have run this before. And, we are reaching out, left and right.”
This year’s run will be April 11, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with packet pick-up beginning at 7 a.m. The cost is $40 and proceeds benefit local diabetes organizations and the Madera Evening Lions. Runners can sign up at runsignup.com/race/ca/madera/runningwiththelions. Packet pick-up will also be held the day before at the Lions Town and Country Snack Bar between the Little League fields.
