Faith Moseley and Brittney Hahn of Madera have been selected as recipients of Educational Employees Credit Union’s Student Grant Program.
They are among 50 EECU members who each received $2,000 grants for the 2018-2019 school year.
EECU has given more than $1.2 million in grants to 775 students since the program’s inception in 2003.
Moseley will attend Madera Community College Center before transferring to Chico State. She plans to become a registered nurse or counselor.
Hahn will attend Missouri University of Science and Technology to pursue a degree in biomedical, bioengineering, biomechanical or environmental engineering.
Beth Dooley, EECU’s president and CEO, said she was proud that the grants have assisted hundreds of students in paying for their education.
“The grants that we have awarded over the years have helped teachers, doctors, nurses, entrepreneurs, and so many others reach their career goals,” Dooley said.
The grant recipients were recognized by Derek F. Scharton, EECU’s board chairman, and Dooley at the credit union’s recent Annual Meeting, which was attended by more than 2,300 members and guests.
Grant recipients were selected based on their personal statements, letters of recommendation and school transcripts. The program awards grants to members attending college, vocational or technical school, or pursuing professional training.
EECU has 19 branches and serves more than 280,000 members in 10 Central California counties, and has more than $3 billion in assets.
