Madera District Fair entry deadline this Tuesday

Madera County exhibitors planning to compete at the 2017 Madera District Fair can submit entry forms in the office or online. The entry deadline is Tuesday.

Entry forms and Exhibitor’s Handbooks are available at the Fair office, retail establishments, and online at www.maderafair.com. The handbooks contain information on competitions available, guidelines for submitting items and all applicable dates. Competitions are available for both individual and group entry and include numerous competitions for class projects. Livestock entries are not available online.

Competition for the 2017 fair includes many longtime favorites as well as several new additions. Many new contests return in 2017, the BBQ Rib contest, a live floral arranging contest and many photography and fine art opportunities to showcase the 2017 theme “Your Fair since 1937.”

“It’s our fair guests both young and old, those new and longtime guests, who have shaped the great tradition of annual family fun at the Madera District Fair,” said events coordinator Barbara Leach. “We invite you to add to our exhibits with your entries of fair photos, artwork, floriculture and even through our ‘Billboard’ contest. New 2017 contests include a Mason jar craft to make Pinterest lovers swoon and a live judged Cupcake War.”

In partnership with the Heritage Foundation, Madera Fair is offering a 2nd annual contest for Class of 2017, 2018 and 2019 high school students of Madera County. This special contest called “I Love this Town” is an opportunity for students to showcase their volunteer work on a tri-fold presentation board. Six of those entries will be selected to compete by oral presentation on the Patio Stage, opening night, Sept. 7, for the 1st-3rd title and cash awards of $500, $300 or $200.

Madera District Fair opens 5 p.m. Sept. 7. About 50,000 guests are expected. Bargain admission tickets and carnival coupons are available online and in office now through Sept. 6 and at Rancho San Miguel Market Madera beginning Aug. 23.
