Madera County sheriff’s log for July 24-30

The following incidents were recorded by the Madera County Sheriff’s Department from July 24 to 30.

Monday, July 24

2:59 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the Oakhurst Community Park in the 49000 block of Civic Circle in Oakhurst regarding a disturbance. A woman reporting party stated that several people were using drugs and yelling at her. During the patrol check, a loose pit bull dog attempted to attack the deputies’ canine partner. Shots were fired at the dog and the dog’s owner was cited for violation of the county leash law ordinance. The pit bull was taken by Animal Control.

9:52 p.m. — Deputes were dispatched to the 39000 block of Road 274 in Bass Lake regarding shots being fired. Upon arrival it was determined that a firearm was used inside an RV Trailer. During the investigation, a stolen handgun, along with two 9mm bullets and one spent shell casing, were found. Photographs were taken and the handgun seized. A report was written to be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review of possible charges.

Tuesday, July 25

8:41 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 19000 block of Western Way for a report by a woman stating that a man that was at the location had an outstanding parole warrant. Deputies arrived on the scene and later arrested the man after a short leg bail. The man was booked into the Madera County Corrections on his outstanding warrants.

Wednesday, July 26

7:41 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the area of Ciatana Creek Road and Road 222 in the town of North Fork regarding vandalism to a cluster of U.S. mail boxes. A report was taken.

Thursday, July 27

12:43 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 28000 block of Road15 3/4 in regards to a report of trespassing. Two adult males were arrested and booked into the Department of Corrections on charges of trespassing. Case was forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for charges to be filed.

Friday, July 28

11:36 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 33000 block of Mission Drive in North Fork regarding the theft of a cell phone from an unlocked vehicle. A report was taken for documentation. Case was closed until further leads.

4:27 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 17000 block of North Avon Place in Madera regarding a male subject who reported he had alcohol poisoning. Deputy discovered that the male subject was a danger to himself. He was placed on a 5150 hold and transported by ambulance to Madera Community Hospital for a 72-hour mental evaluation.

6:40 p.m. — Deputies were dispatched to the 49000 block of Road 426 in Oakhurst regarding a domestic disturbance. It was determined that the male half had choked his girlfriend whom he lives with and has a child with. The male half was arrested and booked on domestic-related charges.

Saturday, July 29

2:41 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 53000 block of Timber View Road in North Fork regarding an elderly female not able to care for herself. The female cut her arm on a glass window. It was determined that she was a danger to herself. She was transported to Madera Community Hospital for a mental health evaluation. The case was closed.

9:32 p.m. — Deputy responded to the 19000 block of Claremont Road in Madera regarding a child custody dispute. During the investigation the deputy was assaulted. The case was forwarded to Juvenile Probation for prosecution.

Sunday, July 30

9:51 p.m. — Deputy conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Pecan Drive and Apricot in Madera for a vehicle code violations. During the investigation it was learned that the vehicle had been stolen out of Fresno on July 29. The driver was arrested and booked at Madera County Department of Correction. The vehicle was turned over to the registered owner. A report was written and forwarded to the Districts Attorney’s Office for charges to be filed. The case was closed by the arrest.
