Sheriff’s log for May 22-28

Monday, May 22

6:14 a.m. — A deputy was dispatched to the area of Ellis Avenue and Road 28 in Madera in response to a report of an alleged vehicle theft from an abandoned residence. Deputies conducted a felony stop on the vehicle and made one arrest. Cases forwarded to the Madera County District Attorney to pursue the charges against the suspect.

10:03 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the area of Avenue 12 and Road 35 of Madera in response to a report of a female juvenile who was walking on the shoulder of the road. The female was found to be in possession of a kitchen knife and admitted to having suicidal thoughts. She was taken to a hospital for a 72 hours psychological evaluation.

9:58 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to a home located in the 42000 block of County Club Drive West in Oakhurst in response to a report of an assault against an elderly female. The case was forwarded to the Madera County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of related charges. Tuesday, May 23

4:13 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 12000 block of Gleason Drive in Madera regarding two possible suicidal juveniles. An investigation was completed and a report was written. The case was closed. Wednesday, May 24

8:18 a.m. — Deputy responded to an orchard near Road 20 and Avenue 24 in Chowchilla in response to a report of the theft of a trailer. The trailer was entered into the stolen vehicle system and a crime report was generated.

11:44 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 26000 block of Avenue7 in Madera regarding an unconscious student. The student was placed on a 5150 hold and transported by emergency medical system.

4:15 p.m. — A citizen called the Sheriff’s Office to report an assault that occurred while stuck in traffic on Road 16 about one mile south of State Route 152 in Chowchilla. The reporting party was assaulted by another driver. Minor injuries were sustained by both parties. The other involved party was unknown. No charges were requested. A report was taken for documentation purposes. Thursday, May 25

10:38 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to a confidential location regarding a domestic incident in Madera. The victim stated that she was 7 weeks pregnant by her boyfriend and they were having an argument. She said that he pushed her head up against the wall, thereby causing physical injuries. She requested charges. Case was forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for charges.

11:53 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 40000 block of red Bud Drive in Oakhurst regarding a subject at the California Highway Patrol Office who was distraught. Units responded in the area after the subject fled on foot. The male subject was identified and requested for the deputy to shoot him. He was turned over to Emergency Medical System for mental health evaluation per 5150. The report was closed.

11:55 a.m. — Detectives were in the 28000 block of Avenue 15 ¾ in Madera looking for a wanted subject. There was an aggressive pit bull that attacked a detective and was shot. Detective was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and treated for the bite. A report was written. Friday, May 26

10:06 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 19000 block of Palm Street in Chowchilla regarding a burglary. A wanted parolee was spotted at the home and arrested per parole agent. He was later booked into County jail.

7:26 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 23000 block of Road 15 in Chowchilla regarding a domestic violence call where the victim was hit with a large board. The suspect left prior to the deputies’ arrival. A report was taken and forwarded to Madera District Attorney’s Office for filing of charges.

6:31 p.m. — While at a community event at Parkwood Park in Madera, a deputy noticed a subject arriving who appeared to be driving under the influence of alcohol. When the deputy made contact with the subject he became very confrontational with the deputy. The subject attempted to assault the deputy who in turn used a Taser with no effect. The subject was taken to the ground where he continued to resist. Subject was overpowered taken into custody and booked in the Madera County Jail. Saturday, May 27

9:28 p.m. — Deputy responded to the area of CA-145 and Road 211 in Madera after a request from the California Highway Patrol to check on a possible vehicle that had gone over a cliff. It was later learned that one of the three occupants who had been ejected from the vehicle had passed away. A&R Mortuary Services responded to the scene for removal of the decedent’s remains. Notification was later made to the decedent’s family members. A report was written and forwarded to the Chief Deputy Coroner for review. Sunday, May 28

9:45 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the 20000 block of Road 4 in Oakhurst for a report of vandalism to a vehicle. The suspect was found to be a co-worker. A report was written and sent to the District Attorney’s Office for charges.
