2 arrested for armed robbery
This past weekend authorties arrested two men accused of robbing a Cricket Wireless store at gunpoint last week.
Madera police detectives and Special Investigations Unit found the two suspects, Gilbert Giron and Jubenal Mendoza, in Modesto on Friday, who were taken to Madera County jail for booking.
The public identified the pair from security video released by police last week, said Cpl. Josiah Arnold of Madera police. The pair “likely committed other robberies in the Central Valley,” he said.
Around 6 p.m. June 6, two men entered the store and one demanded money and cellular phones at gunpoint before fleeing by car, said Cpl. Mark Trukki. One of the duo was suspected of a robbery in the Tracy area in the end of May.
“We hope their arrest brings some peace to the victims of this violent crime,” Arnold said. Once again our community is defined by its united stance against people who bring violence to our streets.”
