Sheriff’s office invites input

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is asking for community feedback for its annual Off Highway Vehicle grant request and an overdue update of its 2011 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan.

If approved, the grant would assist the sheriff’s office in managing off-highway vehicle recreation. The grant request will be available for public review through April 4, either by contacting Susan Noel or via the state park service website. Final grant applications are due May 1.

A meeting on the update of the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan has been set for 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the sheriff’s headquarters, 2725 Falcon Drive. The department also serves as the area’s Office of Emergency Services, and is partnering with the cities of Madera and Chowchilla as well as special districts to update the plan.

For information, contact Sgt. Joseph Wilder, 675-7770, ext. 231.
