Providing continuing medical education for area health professionals, the Fresno Madera Medical Society recently held its 36th annual Central Valley Cardiology Symposium at the Madera County Office of Education.

Faculty members for the conference were doctors Dipanjan Banerjee, Roblee P. Allen and Jay D. Pal.

The catered event brought together this group of cardiac physicians to share the rapidly changing, latest techniques of heart medicine, said Dr. Ranjit S. Rajpal of Madera, program director.

“Founded in Madera more than three decades ago, the objective of the symposium has been to create a professional forum for physicians, nurses, students and other health care professionals,” said Rajpal.

“Our extraordinary panel of distinguished experts is renowned for their scholarship and dedication to community engagement. The speakers are published extensively on a wide range of issues in cardiovascular medicine and have a profound commitment to educating and training the next generation of physicians, Rajpal said.

Allen is a professor of medicine and the director of the medical/surgical intensive care unit and director of the invasive procedures in the pulmonary services laboratory at UC Davis Medical Center.

Banerjee is a clinical assistant professor of medicine and serves as the medical director of the mechanical circulatory support program and as physician lead of the heart failure readmission reduction program at Stanford Medicine.

Pal is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Washington. Pal is a prominent and gifted surgeon recognized for his expertise in the field of thoracic and cardiac surgery, Rajpal said.

“I would like to give special thanks to all of our guest faculty speakers, to the dedicated members of our symposium committee, and to the entire FMMS staff for their tremendous efforts in making this CME initiative possible,” Rajpal said.
