Housing authority to reopen Section 8 wait list
The Madera Housing Authority has announced that the waiting list for Section 8 housing will be reopened for the first time in 4 years.
“In the years since its been closed, we’ve housed people that were previously on the list,” said Housing Authority Director Linda Marie Shaw. “So now it’s time to open it up again.”
Previously, the Section 8 waiting list had some 1,800 applicants, with 1,200 applying on the first day alone. The Housing Authority expects the same numbers this year, with as many as 1,400 applicants on the first day.
