What season is it?

It’s probably not too early to enjoy some salads, even though they are usually considered as summer fare.

At this writing, I sit here wondering what the weather will be like when the article gets published.

At my house, in the foothills, we are literally bundled up and using the wood stove or electric heater one day, and the next day we are turning on the air conditioning and fans, wearing T-shirts and light clothing. My stomach doesn’t care one way or the other, as long as it gets fed.

I know it’s typical for this time of year, but it can be a challenge. I have been getting hungry for salads, and my oldest son will be visiting with his family in a day. I mention this, because I know he is hoping Mom will make his favorite macaroni salad. He already put in his order for chicken soup and dumplings. I gave both my boys the recipe for that soup, but they say they prefer it when I make it. I guess that’s real comfort food.
