Matilda Torres freshman Noelia Calivillo goes up for an attack during a three-set loss to Sanger Wets on Thursday. Calvillo led the Toros in kills.
The Matilda Torres Toros girls volleyball concluded a two-match North Yosemite League homestand with a three-set loss to the Sanger West Hornets.
Although the Toros showed improvements throughout the match, the Hornets proved too much for the Toros, who also lost to Sunnyside on Tuesday. The Hornets defeated the Toros by a combined 75-48 score.
“We have a lot of players playing different positions. Our defense is playing well, but our offense is struggling,” head coach Adam Horner said Thursday. “The better the opponent we play, the more energy and excitement we have. They seem to be enjoying the season as it is going along.”
