FRESNO — With two runners in the top 20, and three in the top 40, the Matilda Torres Toros boys cross country team earned a second straight Div. II third place finish at the CIF State Cross County Championships at Woodward Park.


“To get on the podium is huge,” head coach Jose Herrera said. “I know this team and the way they worked their tails off. We could have snuck into second, but we could have ended up fourth. Anything could have happened. But the fact that they got on the podium, which is the end season goal, where every got their medals, I just wanted them to enjoy the moment.” 


Benjamin Fernandez led the Toros with a sixth place finish to close out his Toro career.
