Keyed by a dominant second quarter, the Matilda Torres Toros girls basketball team will be making its second trip to the Central Section championship game.
The top-seeded Toros defeated the fourth-seeded Mendota Aztecs, 41-29, on Friday in the Div. IV Semifinal game to earn a trip to Selland Arena for the Central Section Championship at 2 p.m. against No. 3 Tulare Union.
The win also gave head coach Jose Villalobos his 100th career victory with a majority of the wins coming at Torres. He spent one year coaching at Mendota.
