Torres’ Austin Meza tries to slide around the tag from the McLane catcher while trying to score on a short pop up from third. The tag was made to end the first inning Wednesday.

The Matilda Torres Toros baseball team fell into a 6-0 hole and almost came back in a loss to the McLane Highlanders at Torres.

McLane scored three runs in the first and second innings. However, the Toros scored five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to cut the lead to two before suffering a 9-6 loss Wednesday afternoon.

Alonzo Del Toro and Austin Meza had multi-hit games. Del Toro added a triple and scored two runs. Matt Escoto also scored a pair of runs.
