Master Gardeners of Madera County held its Glorious Garden Tour in Oakhurst and Coarsegold on Saturday. It was a gorgeous day with mild climate for visiting the beautiful gardens of homes.

Visitors could go to the gardens in any order that was convenient. Two were located in Coarsegold, and two were in Oakhurst.

The Zingrich Garden is certified as a National Wildlife Habitat, and is situated on nearly three acres in the hills of Coarsegold. There are many pathways, some with shade, and some more sunny. The owner builds birdhouses and, on the property, are more than 65 handmade birdhouses.

Rodriguez Garden was purchased about seven years ago and needed much work. The property was overgrown and had been neglected. Throughout the years the owners cleared brush and created a thriving landscape of tranquility. There are now raised beds where edibles will be grown. There is beauty everywhere on this property.

Fruehe Garden on the Green in Oakhurst is a renovation project that features golf and gardening. With the golf course as the backdrop for this home, the visitor can enjoy wildflower beds, colorful perennials, hundreds of irises, garden art, potted annuals, birdbaths, bees, and butterflies. 

Fresno Flats Historical Village and Park rests in Oakhurst, and there are many interesting buildings typical of the 1800s and early 1900s. A tour through this area takes the visitor back to another era. The gardens surrounding the buildings are available for viewing.

It was at this location that the Master Gardeners set up tables to sell propagated plants on the tour.
