Toros drop match on the road

FRESNO — For the second match in a row, the Matilda Torres Toros girls volleyball team took the first set against its North Yosemite League opponent, but couldn’t carry that momentum into the rest of the sets.

After Tuesday’s four-set loss to Madera South, the Stallions defeated the Roosevelt Rough Riders 26-24 in the first set Wednesday. However, they lost the next three sets 25-9, 25-21, 25-18.

One of the key statistics in the loss came from the service line. The Rough Riders served up 22 aces (almost an entire set) while the Toros had just 10 to go with eight missed serves.
