Madera’s Mayra Ceballos battles for a bucket against Roosevelt on Tuesday. She scored a team-high eight points in a 58-28 loss to the Rough Riders that will helped determine the North Yosemite League championship.
Other than a loss to the Roosevelt-Fresno Rough Riders, the Madera South Stallions girls basketball team has rolled through the North Yosemite League and set up a rematch for a chance at the league title this week.
However, the Stallions picked a bad day to have a bad shooting day and the Rough Riders rolled to a 58-28 victory Tuesday at Madera South.
The Rough Riders dominated the second half, outscoring Madera South 28-12. Take out a competitive second quarter by the Stallions and the Rough Riders outscored the Stallions 40-13.
“We just didn’t make any shots,” head coach Johnny Sharp said. “We had our opportunities. It would have been a different quarter if we would have made one or two of those shots.”
The Stallions went 0-14 shooting in the first quarter and shot just 19 percent (9-of-48) from the field.
