Stallions boys soccer leads teams into playoffs

The Madera South Stallions boys soccer team was rewarded for its second place finish in the County/Metro Athletic Conference with a No. 5 seed in the Central Section Div. III playoffs.


The Stallions earned fifth seed and will host No. 12 Lemoore on Wednesday in Stallions Stadium at 6 p.m. A win send them into the quarterfinals at No. 4 Mission Oak-Tulare or hosting No. 13 Fresno on Friday.


The Coyotes boys soccer team were also placed in Div. III and earned the No. 14 seed. They will start their playoff run at No. 3 Kerman on Wednesday at 6 p.m. A win sends the Coyotes to the quarterfinals at either No. 6 Sunnyside-Fresno or No. 11 Atascadero.


The Liberty boys soccer team also entered the playoffs. They were given the No. 9 seed in Div VI and will play at No. 8 Firebaugh on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The winner will play at top seed Mammoth-Mammoth Lakes on Friday.


Boys Basketball


The Madera South Stallions were ‘rewarded’ with the No. 15 seed in Div. IV and will play at Sierra-Tollhouse on Tuesday.


They easily could have been one of the top seeds in Div. V, but were sent up to Div. IV. If the Stallions can pull off the upset, they will play at either No. 7 Desert-Edwards AFB or No. 10 Mojave on Thursday.


The Liberty boys basketball team endured an up-and-down season through the North Sequoia League. They earned the No. 10 seed in Div. V and will play at No. 7 Fresno Christian on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.


A win will send them to either Bakersfield to face Highland or back home to host Mammoth on Thursday.


Girls Basketball


The Madera Coyotes girls basketball team, fresh off a third place finish in the CMAC, earned the No. 14 seed in Div. IV and will play at Fowler on Wednesday at 6 p.m.


A win sends the Coyotes to the quarterfinals on Friday at either No. 6 North-Bakersfield or No. 11 Mission Oak-Tulare.


The Madera South Stallions girls basketball team was given the No. 5 seed in Div. V and will host No. 12 Washington Union-Easton on Wednesday. A win will send the Stallions to the quarterfinals at either No. 4 Dos Palos or hosting No. 13 Fresno.


Girls Soccer


The Madera Coyotes girls soccer team earned the No. 6 seed in the Div. II playoffs and will host No. 11 El Diamante-Visalia in the first round Tuesday at 6 p.m.


A win send them to No. 3 Bullard-Fresno or back home to host No. 14 Kingsburg on Thursday.


The Madera South girls soccer team also earned a home match on Tuesday. They were the No. 8 seed and will host No. 9 Hanford at 6 p.m. in Stallions Stadium. The winner will either head to top seed Exeter or host No. 16 Frontier-Bakersfield on Thursday.


The Liberty Hawks girls soccer team also earned a home match with the No. 8 seed in Div. IV. They will host No. 9 Central Valley Christian-Visalia on Tuesday.


The winner will either travel to No. 1 Kerman or host No. 16 Reedley on Thursday.
