Solo vehicle crash leads to fatality

A Toyota Camry sits near a tree after the driver ran off the road. The car collided with a tree and the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

California Highway Patrol Madera officers responded to a traffic crash on northbound State Route 99 at State Route 152 on Sunday at about 7:30 p.m.

A 65-year-old man from Atwater was driving a silver Toyota Camry northbound on State Route 99, approaching the State Route 152 split.  

For reasons still under investigation, the driver veered off the roadway into the dirt median, where the Toyota collided with a tree.
