Madera High School Athletic Director John Fernandez was named the CIF Central Section Athletic Director of the Year at the California State Athletic Directors Association Conference, held in Riverside from April 8-12.

The honor recognizes Fernandez’s outstanding leadership, commitment, and service to student-athletes. Under his guidance, Madera’s athletic programs have continued to thrive, emphasizing not only competitive success, but also character development, teamwork, and academic achievement.

The award, presented annually by the California State Athletic Directors Association, in partnership with the California Interscholastic Federation, recognizes athletic directors who demonstrate excellence in program leadership, student-athlete support, and a strong commitment to sportsmanship and educational values.
