Madera County workers put the County emblem on the County of Madera Christmas Tree, which will be lit on Friday at 6 p.m., just before the annual Christmas Parade, which will begin at 7 p.m.

Christmas nostalgia is the sentimental longing for past Christmas celebrations, often triggered by sights, sounds, and traditions. Often, we spend time and effort to create these conditions that we long for, only to be disappointed by the less-than-optimal result.

For those who know the tradition I’m referring to, there’s great news, through strong partnerships and the generous sponsorships of countless community members, the County of Madera, in collaboration with Elevate Madera (a local non-profit), is bringing back a beloved event that once brought joy to both young and old, and delivered 100 percent satisfaction.

The County of Madera Christmas Tree will be lit in front of the old government building for the first time in more than 30 years. The tree is at 209 W. Yosemite, and will be lit at 6 p.m. Friday night.
