The Madera County Historical Society will open the Madera County Museum with a special open house on Saturday following the Old Timers’ Day Parade.

The Madera County Historical Society is celebrating its 70th anniversary with an open house at the Madera County Museum during Old Timers Day on Saturday.

The Open House will begin at 11 a.m., following the parade to celebrate the Museum, fresh off its “Best of Central California 2025” victories. The Museum received a gold medal for Best Museum and Best Place to Volunteer during an online voting. The Museum also received a bronze medal for Best Attraction in the first time the museum has been nominated for the “Best Of” awards.

The Museum has about two-dozen rooms on three floors, filled with 21,000 historic Madera County artifacts and photos. The ground floor features a Native American Room, a room with part of the historic Madera Sugar Pine flume, a War and Peace Room, Agriculture Room, Country Store, Research Library and more.
