Honoring all moms, the members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks lodge #1918 served a hearty breakfast on Mother’s Day from its Madera headquarters at 112 West 6th Street.

Approximately 60 people attended the ticketed event, timed to accommodate various church services. Members of the BPOE Lodge #1918, led by Exalted Ruler Tom Gonzales, are a part of one of Madera’s longest active service clubs and has more than 300 members.

Some of those members cooked and served breakfast.

On the menu consisting of custom made omelets, bacon, potatoes and beverages including a mimosa (Champagne and orange juice mixed) was served for $12.

“The proceeds will be used for the many community service projects the lodge sponsors every year,” said Gonzales.

Projects include scholarships, the National Hoop Shoot, veterans’ services, drug awareness programs, community investments, dictionary distributions and many more events, he said.
