Madera County decathletes bring home state medals

Madera South High School student Ashley Banuelos earned a silver medal in the interview competition at the 44th Annual California Academic Decathlon.

Nearly 500 students from 59 schools participated in person in Santa Clara on March 24-26. Students delivered speeches, conducted interviews, and competed in the Super Quiz on March 25. Students took tests in seven subject areas and wrote an essay at their school sites on March 11.

California Academic Decathlon gives awards to the top scoring student on each team. and Madera South’s Rosabelle Flores received that honor.
