The Liberty Hawks girls basketball team were right where they wanted to be — in the championship game of its own tournament in the first year. However, they didn’t expect to be scoreless through the first quarter. 

The Hawks just wanted to make things more interesting for their fans. The Yosemite Badgers scored the first 14 points of the game with a 12-0 first quarter to take the lead in the Liberty Hawks Holiday Classic Championship game last week. 

However, the Hawks outscored the Badgers 28-12 the rest of the way for a 28-26 tournament championship victory on December 20. The win sets up an interesting series between the two teams. They will meet two more times in the Northwest Sequoia Conference.
