The Mint Saloon, scene of the action.

R. Tuggle was stabbed by S. Monahan last night after a friendly game of cards led to a row. Monahan is under arrest.

Robert Tuggle was last night stabbed four times with a pocket knife by Sam Monahan, a horse dealer, who at one time kept the Yosemite stable. The wounds are severe, but not particularly dangerous, although a deep one in the left groin may prove troublesome. The cutting took place in the Mint Saloon and grew out of a remark made by Tuggle over a friendly game of Pedro.

Witnesses state that the stabbing was unlooked for and uncalled for and would not have occurred but for the persistence of Monahan, who seemed to be looking for trouble.
