Liberty quarterback Jack Canar tries to avoid a tackle during Friday’s season-opening win over Strathmore. Canar rushed for 132 yards on just eight carries with a touchdown.Â
In the many years he has coached the Liberty Hawks football team, head coach Mike Nolte’s mantra has always been to control the line of scrimmage.Â
With one of the best lines in Liberty history, Nolte has the manpower to do just that, and it showed in a 29-7 manhandling of the Strathmore Spartans in the season opener Friday night.Â
The running game was excellent, gaining 395 yards and averaging almost nine yards per carry. The Strathmore rushing attack gained 83 yards, but averaged just 3.7 yards. Strathmore only gained 79 yards in the first half.
