DUI crash claims life

A Nissan Altima sits on its side after the driver lost control, and hit a telephone pole Sunday evening. The crash claimed the life of the passenger in the vehicle.

CHP Madera Officers responded to a crash on Road 35, south of Avenue 15 at about 9:15 p.m. Sunday.

Upon arriving, CHP Officers learned that a 19-year-old from Madera was driving a black 2005 Nissan Altima, northbound on Road 35, south of Avenue 14, at a high rate of speed.

The driver lost control of the Nissan, and veered to the left, across the southbound lane, and into the west dirt shoulder.
