If you like molasses, you will appreciate a slice of old-fashioned, shoofly pie.
While most of us wouldn’t dream of leaving out the famous traditional pumpkin pie as a Thanksgiving dessert, it is nice to know that there are many other delicious desserts that can share the table.
My family always has to wait a while before we delve into the sweets, as our usual Thanksgiving meal doesn’t leave much room for anything else. During that waiting time, the table gets cleared, dishes get washed (and all those pots and pans) and leftovers get divided up or placed in the refrigerator.
If your family is anything like mine, there is often at least one person who suddenly finds a reason as to why they can’t help out with any of that. It’s okay, as the rest of us always manage to get it done. Then our reward is dessert, even though that will lead to another round of dishes to wash, dry and put away. Small price to pay.
