The last time Joe Flores Gym saw the Madera Coyotes boys basketball team play a playoff game was in 2009.

This year’s version of the eighth-seeded Coyotes didn’t allow the home fans go home unhappy with a 75-60 victory over the ninth-seeded Immanuel-Reedley Eagles in the first round of the Div. IV playoffs on Wednesday.

“We watched very minimal film and just focused on us,” head coach David Lozano said. “We have to control what we can control. We got out of an unbelievably tough league in the County/Metro Athletic Conference. We have to focus on our habits and defensive intensity.”
