Madera’s Emilio Torres (5) and Samuel McDonald rise up for a block on Garza’s tip attempt during Thursday’s match.
Although the Madera Coyotes boys volleyball team lost by 10 in the first set, they kept improving and almost forced a fourth set in a sweep to the Justin Garza Guardians.
The Coyotes closed the game through the three sets, losing by 10 in the first set, then by eight in the second set and by two in the third set Thursday in Joe Flores Gym.
Samuel McDonald led the Coyotes with 10 kills. Gabriel Carrera put down seven kills. McDonald and Carrera each had five kills in the third set. Jason Valladares added five kills.
