Chowchilla officer dies in crash

California Highway Patrol Madera Division responded to a two-vehicle crash at about 10:30 p.m. on State Route 152 and Road 13.


A 36-year-old man from Firebaugh was driving a Freighliner semi-truck, pulling two trailers loaded with tomatoes traveling southbound on Road 13 Friday night. 


An on-duty Chowchilla Police Officer, identified as Officer Raymond Barrantes, was driving a marked vehicle eastbound on SR-152 in the No. 1 lane approaching the Road 13 intersection.
