Madera County Sheriff's Log: Aug. 27-Sept. 1

The Madera County Sheriff’s Department reported the following incidents: Aug. 27

1:18 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to investigate a theft of table grapes from the area of Avenue 10 and Road 23 in Madera. A report was taken. The reporting party requests patrol checks in the evening. Report to be forwarded to the Ag detectives.

3:30 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to investigate a report of a sunken vessel in a docking slip on Bass Lake. The appropriate state agencies were notified. A report was taken for documentation. Aug. 28

7:57 a.m. — Deputy saw a wanted subject who had an outstanding felony warrant in the area of Blackfoot Road and Hopi Avenue in Coarsegold. The driver sped off at a high rate of speed and later stopped after a short pursuit. The male was booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections for his outstanding warrants. A report was written and filed with the Madera County District Attorney’s Office.

12:29 a.m. — Deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 24000 block of Gardena Drive in Madera regarding a male adult subject who allegedly had his face spray painted and was walking inside of the residence nude. The male subject was arrested and transported and booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections. The case is to be forwarded to Madera County District Attorney’s Office for review.

4:38 p.m. — Deputy was dispatched to the area of Road 417 and Apache Road in Coarsegold regarding a report of a male with his throat slashed. The man was located at a residence on Apache and later transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. A possible suspect was identified and a report was written and forwarded to Madera County District Attorney’s Office.

Aug. 30

8:58 a.m. — School resource deputy was advised by a school administrator of possible child abuse at the 46000 block of Road 200 in Oneal’s. An investigation was conducted and it was determined the allegation was unfounded. A report was written for documentation purposes and report was closed.

11:55 a.m. — A student attending a school in the area of the 49000 block of Indian Springs in the County of Madera reported being followed by a suspicious vehicle. Deputies investigated and followed up with the guardian of the child. There is a potential suspect and deputies are waiting on further leads to develop.

6:14 p.m. — Deputies were dispatched to assist California Highway Patrol with a traffic collision in the area of Avenue 9 and Road 36 in Madera. It was determined the vehicle was the suspect vehicle that left a residence where three victims had been stabbed, within the city limits of Madera. Upon checking the area, California Highway Patrol was out with the suspect in the area of Avenue 8 east of Road 35. The suspect attempted to steal the California Highway Patrol officer’s car; however, the subject was tazed after he failed to follow commands of the deputies on the scene. The subject was taken into custody and turned over to Madera Police Department. Sept. 1

7:55 a.m. — Deputy responded to the area of Avenue 24 and Road 26 in Madera regards to a grand theft and vandalism report. The reporting party said subjects stole copper wires from a water pump station and cut copper wire from another location. Physical evidence was located at the scene and determined the subjects were involved with another reported theft reports. Case forwarded to detectives for further investigation.

8:25 p.m. — Deputies responded to the area of Avenue 18 1/2 and Road 4 in Chowchilla to assist California Highway Patrol with a vehicle accident and brandishing of a firearm. Subject fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival. A shotgun was recovered at the scene and later booked for safe keeping. Subject later contacted and statement obtained. Victim was also contacted and a statement was obtained. After an investigation it was determined that brandishing was unfounded. A report was written for documentation and the case was closed.
