Deputy collars man with four felony warrants

the madera tribune A Madera County deputy sheriff made an arrest after investigating a call about a suspicious person at approximately 11:20 p.m.

The caller reported to the sheriff’s office that he had seen two males, one on foot and one on a bicycle, walking towards his neighbor’s house, in the 17000 block of Road 27.

Deputy Donald Babineaux responded to the residence, but did not locate any suspicious subjects.

According to sheriff’s spokeswoman Kayla Serratto, Babineaux saw two men, one on foot and one on a bike, in the area of Martin Street west of Road 26 around 11:50p.m. Based on the matching description and close proximity to the suspicious-person call, Babineaux stopped to talk to both.

During the course of his investigation, Babineaux requested license and warrant checks from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch for both subjects, only one of whom had photo

identification on his person. The first subject (with photo ID) came back clear, while the second subject was reported as having four misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.

The second subject, eventually identified as Randy Baugh Jr. of Madera, admitted to providing a false name to Babineaux to hide the fact that he had a warrant for his arrest. He initially provided a name of an old acquaintance, unaware that there were also warrants out for that individual’s arrest.

Babineaux confirmed a felony no-bail warrant out of Madera County, and placed Baugh Jr. under arrest.

Serratto said Baugh Jr. was booked into Madera County Department of Corrections without incident for a felony warrant and providing a false name to law enforcement.
